Summary

A romantic manga starring a high school girl who learns to live on her own, win at high school, and experience first love – all in a boarding house whose living room is home to the odd (but handsome) Matsunaga-san。

MOVING HOUSE

Matsunaga-san may have moved out of the boarding house, but instead of dwelling on the fact that they’re no longer living together, Meeko’s looking forward to what’s in store for their future。 Although the two have decided to hold off on becoming a couple until after Meeko’s high school graduation, just knowing Matsunaga-san cares for her puts Meeko’s mind at ease。 And after she’s gifted a spare key to his apartment, Meeko couldn’t be happier! But even more new changes are awaiting the boarding house residents—such as new faces, new relationships, and lingering feelings。 Through it all, Meeko wants to make sure Matsunaga-san is just as present in her life, but when Matsunaga-san’s job becomes busier than ever, what’ll it mean for their relationship…?

Honestly up to this volume things were going smooth between the main couple and suddenly the last 4 chapters were all over place with unnecessary drama。 I am glad the work/life issue was tackled but it felt we went from Living no Matsunaga - san to Living no Ryo - kun。 Don't get me wrong I did feel bad for him at first but now he's meddling with a relationship, pressuring her with his feelings and dropping the "you don't have to love me but please date me" line。 Boy get the hint please。 She reje Honestly up to this volume things were going smooth between the main couple and suddenly the last 4 chapters were all over place with unnecessary drama。 I am glad the work/life issue was tackled but it felt we went from Living no Matsunaga - san to Living no Ryo - kun。 Don't get me wrong I did feel bad for him at first but now he's meddling with a relationship, pressuring her with his feelings and dropping the "you don't have to love me but please date me" line。 Boy get the hint please。 She rejected you 4 times, move on。 The drama felt out of place。 Matsunaga-san is missing her birthday, doesn't even have the time to call her, Miko is sad he's missing her birthday edspite her encouraging and understanding him at first and whoops here comes Ryo shedding some tears, saving the day。 Matsunaga- san, the Main Lead barley even appears。 。。。more

***Whole Series Review***It’s not perfect by any means。 There is a very large age between the Meeko and her love interest。 Which isn’t bad。。。 but she’s underage; in high school。 He’s a grown adult。 That part really messed with my head, but I tried to remember that not only was it fiction, but other cultures differ from ours and have different standards for things。 So I let it go。 It wasn’t like they were having sex。。。 he barely even kissed her and told her they wouldn’t even officially together ***Whole Series Review***It’s not perfect by any means。 There is a very large age between the Meeko and her love interest。 Which isn’t bad。。。 but she’s underage; in high school。 He’s a grown adult。 That part really messed with my head, but I tried to remember that not only was it fiction, but other cultures differ from ours and have different standards for things。 So I let it go。 It wasn’t like they were having sex。。。 he barely even kissed her and told her they wouldn’t even officially together until she graduated high school。 So I mean。。。 that’s good。。。Moving on!The art is simple and beautiful! I love everything looks realistic, nothing crazy as seen in a lot Shonen manga。 I like that! I always prefer more Shojo styles。 They are softer and more romantic。 This series is very slow moving between our two main characters, so to make up for this, we get little side plots between other characters that live in the boarding house and I really enjoyed these! I fell in love with these characters and it hurt when they finally moved out of the house。 I felt Meeko’s pain at being left behind。 The mangaka did such a great job at making these characters feel real and I loved Meeko got to see that even though they are all adults; they don’t have their shit together like teenagers often assume。 This is a cute manga that hooked me。 I couldn’t stop reading。 I still feel that Ryo-ken deserved better than what we got, but not all endings can be happy, I guess。 If you like manga, or are thinking about diving in, this is easy to adjust to and sweet as can be。  。。。more

Your sort of girlfriend finally turns 18 and you can’t even see her for 5 minutes?? Honestly, he deserves to lose her to Hojo。Honestly the more I think about it the more the way things were rushed with the new tenants bothers me… tempted to knock off a star。 I also found it out of character for the super super super shy girl to tell this dude she JUST met to stop lying to himself or whatever it was。 That was also majorly contrived。 Like the mangaka wanted to make sure he’d move in the gap that Masanaga left but didn’t think he could do it on his own… honestly I think Ken saying something (again) would have made a lot more sense。I know it’s hard balancing a bigger cast, but this was definitely sloppy。I’m still looking forward to what happens next, but eh。 。。。more

Supporting cast volumes always get me down。 I realize that big plots require build up and transitions。 I realize that an author may want to tie up old plot lines to make room for a bigger one。 However, I'm not one to care much for supporting cast。 They are a tool to me to move the main relationships forward。 When they take away from the main storyline, it feels like the author has lost the plot。 This is my bugaboo, and doesn't indicate a failure, usually, on the part of the author。 I'm a cynic。 Supporting cast volumes always get me down。 I realize that big plots require build up and transitions。 I realize that an author may want to tie up old plot lines to make room for a bigger one。 However, I'm not one to care much for supporting cast。 They are a tool to me to move the main relationships forward。 When they take away from the main storyline, it feels like the author has lost the plot。 This is my bugaboo, and doesn't indicate a failure, usually, on the part of the author。 I'm a cynic。 I see outside storylines as distractions from the main one。 I understand that a new couple was formed, change happens, and events around our heroine need to feel real。 It seemed to me, though, that Matsunaga's busy schedule felt artificial—that the mangaka was simply keeping him out of the way to create a complication。 Then a new romantic entanglement appeared, which couldn't have occurred without Matsunaga being MIA, which made me feel as if I had been right all along instead of cynical。Beyond this line there be spoilers ☞ A few thoughts come to mind because of this development。 Isn't it realistic that somebody's new business would keep them busy? Why then did it feel artificial to me? Because I could guess what was going to happen。 (I also don't like the new love interest。 Wishy-washy characters annoy me。) Perhaps if the plots had overlapped a bit more than they did—less conveniently segmented。 Perhaps if the old "please-date-me-I-don't-care-if-you-don't-love-me" trope hadn't reared its overused head。 Perhaps。 The art was as good as in previous volumes。 The cast is lovely to look at。 The faces communicate so much emotion thanks to the illustration skill of the mangaka。 This was a good volume。 However, it's not one I enjoyed reading no matter how vital it's developments were for the next story arc。 As I write my own story, I'm very curious to understand why this volume felt so flat to me, and wonder how to avoid similar pitfalls。 I'm curious to hear if others agree with me。 。。。more
